We are very much known about the importance and benefits of website optimization, but it was never known that we could ever penalize for a website’s over optimization. While all SEO experts all over internet trying hard and using various optimization techniques to rank their website or blogs high in search engines, this recent news about over optimization penalty by Google has shocked many SEO experts. If your website or blog have ever hit by Google’s panda update, then you will definitely not going to ignore this news. It’s quite clear that you have to change your SEO strategy if you do not adhere to Google’s optimizing rules. Let’s look at some of the aspects that you need to take care of while optimizing your website or blog.

Here is what Matt Cutts Said: The idea is basically to level the playing ground, which means the update will give sites that have great content a better shot at ranking above sites that have low quality content but do a better job with SEO. We are working in the last few months and hope to release it in the next months or few weeks. Below are the lists of Signals that could qualify as Over-optimization.

Over optimization Penalty by google

The most important part to avoid over-optimization is by controlling Keyword Density of your website. We never realize the limit while doing SEO and keyword stuffing in any website. You should always remember that the recommended keyword density is from 3 to 7%. No wonder anything above this will be noticed by search engine. For that you will be surely penalized.  Keyword should be limited, placed on the title and first paragraph. This is look natural, readable and will be placed in high quality category.

Another important aspect is website linking. Does your site linked to spam directories and spammy websites? Well, this can hurt your website ranking a lot. Professional SEOs know it very well, still some people just likes to see the number of backlinks. No doubt that the more backlinks your website has, the more possible your website will be ranked high. But quality matters the most. Do not build links with blacklisted site or links that are not related to your niche. Always try to have quality backlinks no matter they are high ranked websites or not, so that you will be safe from getting penalized by Google.

Some SEO experts are also using hidden texts to rank high in search engines. Although they are not visible to visitors but they highly impact on search engines. It’s also called as doorway pages. Those are included with some high keywords and can be found on HTML source of the page. If you do have those kinds of pages or texts, then your website could get banned from search engines or highly penalized.

Lastly, I would not say that you should stop your SEO work. As far as you do proper website optimization and write quality contents by getting familiar terms with your search data niche topic; you should not get punished by Google and even from other search engines.
